If you are in poor health or already receiving long-term care services, you may not qualify for long-term care insurance, as most individual policies require medical underwriting. In some cases, you may be able to buy a limited amount of coverage, or coverage at a higher “non-standard” rate.
Require assistance with bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, urinary or bowel continence, or transferring between your bed or a chair. Use or need a home health care, adult day care, assisted living or nursing home care, use a multi-pronged cane, oxygen, walker or wheelchair.
Additionally, you are unable to be approved for coverage if you have any of the following:
- AIDs or HIV infection
- Alzheimer's Disease
- Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
- Cystic Fibrosis
- Dementia
- Hemophilia (other than Von Willebrand disease)
- Active Hepatitis C, Non-A, Non-B, or Autoimmune
- Kidney Failure
- Liver Cirrhosis
- Memory Loss
- Mid - Advanced Multiple Sclerosis
- Muscular Dystrophy
- Paralysis
- Parkinson's Disease
- Post-Polio Syndrome
- Schizophrenia
- Sickle Cell Anemia
- Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
